Dr. Pepper Rhetoric Analysis
In the Dr. Pepper advertisement chosen the speaker is the Dr. Pepper company whose purpose is to sell their product, Dr. Pepper. Ethos is represented in this ad simply with the well-known Dr. Pepper logo itself. Most people have grown up with the company and their products all around them so Dr. Pepper has credibility with them. Pathos is represented in the ad by appealing to the scientific mind with the pseudo-evolution graph. People relate this graph with science and discovery, which Dr. Pepper uses to their advantage to say that humans evolved from monkeys after discovering Dr. Pepper. This ad completes the rhetorical triangle with logos, again in the evolution picture. The reader sees the evolution to man “post-Pepper” and thinks “maybe I should be drinking this too.”
